Catwalk among Masts
China Cup Sharing Marine Lifestyle with Chinese
Some 300 guests, seated on 30 Beneteau first 40.7s owned by China Cup International Regatta, were the lucky ones to enjoy an unprecedented fashion show at a novel location---a pier in Shenzhen Vanke Longcheer Yacht Club in the evening of 18th Dec.

Jointly organized by China Cup International Regatta Organizing Committee, Shenzhen 26th Summer Universiade Organizing Committee, Sports Illustrated, and China Merchants Bank, the show was the part of the brand promotion events on that day called Setting Sail for Universiade, Shenzhen Embracing Ocean. According to the organizers, these events aimed to promote marine lifestyle in an innovative way. The day also saw a summit forum on marine lifestyle and sports marketing, the founding of Universiade Alliance---a Sponsor and Official Media Partner Club of Shenzhen 2011 Universiade, a sailing tour and so on.
It was freezing given an outdoor temperature below 10 ℃, but the scene was heated up by Sports Illustrated models and the bold idea of having a show among yachts: Hi-tech Lighting and huge LED screen transformed the pier into a runway of splendor with masts of 30 Beneteau first 40.7s as the backdrop. Super models presented the swimsuit show in three parts: Universiade, American classics and the 2010 latest collection. The night was ended with the grand finale of 20-miute fireworks.

David Zhong, CEO of CCIR Management Company, was the one that came up with the idea to locate the show on a pier. “I was thinking how to make the event unique, and it seems that our 30 boats, especially the masts make a perfect natural backdrop. I am exhilarated to offer something special for our guests and show them the marine lifestyle behind this,” David said.

“China Cup is pleased to co-organize this event and share the fun of yachting with people in a special way this time. We love yachting. Not only we encourage more people into this environment-friendly sport, also we’d like them to realize the value of yachting as means of marketing and brand promotion. Possibilities are unlimited as long as we free our imagination,” he continued.
